It is Soma’s first anniversary since his passing and traditionally we share a meal with friends and family. We reflected on it and decided to do something different. Although we miss him we are so blessed and fortunate that we have everything we need.
However, many people are not so fortunate. Palmera is an organisation that works with people at the ground level enabling them to improve their living. This is an organisation that we as a family have been very passionate about. Palmera’s Livelihood programs have had a huge impact on many villages.
To mark this occasion I will be doing a 35 km walk from Palm Beach to Manly. Throughout the walk I will be reflecting on his legacy and how it will continue with the additional funds. The forecast is good and I am hoping to share my experience and photos with you along the way.
As many of you would have also contributed on his funeral day to this worthy cause (click here to see the funds raised from that day), I want take this opportunity to thank you for giving my father another way for his legacy to live on.
All contributions will be directed towards Palmera’s Connecting to Markets project.
This project will help build thriving business farms in the village of Kanthansamy Nagar. In this village building a thriving farm costs as little as $349 per farmer; which is only $78 a year over the 5-year programme. Each of the 105 farmer will learn how to compete and be successful within the farming marketplace and the skills they learn will help them break down barriers that keep them excluded.
