Remembering Our Ammaiya
Ammaiya faced many challenges growing up. His parents passed away when he was a toddler, so his older sister had to raise him. Due to lack of money, he wasn’t able to receive a proper education. Yet, through all this, he worked tirelessly to make a living and support his wife and children.
He was always modest and focused on the accomplishments of his children. Education was very important to him and through his support, most of his children were able to successfully graduate from university. He had dementia later in life, but even through that, his life was about his family and his faith.
In Ammaiya’s memory, we’ve decided to start a campaign for a project that resonates with the life he led. His memory will be supporting the Graduating the Poor project. This project identifies the absolute poorest and work with them over two years to graduate them out of poverty.
