Kalaiyarasi’s family doesn’t have a safe place to call their own. They’re in a temporary house that leaks when it rains and gets unbearably hot during the day. And with two small children, there’s no way to keep them comfortable or safe.
Her husband had an operation on his stomach. Because of that, he can’t do heavy work anymore. He still goes out for whatever daily wage jobs he can find. But his health means the work isn’t always consistent.
Whatever little he earns goes to feeding the family and looking after the small ones. There’s nothing ever left from what he makes. So, building an actual home is not possible right now.
They’ve been married twelve years. And the two of them have been trying to hold things together for a long time. She’s been raising two kids in a house that was never meant to last for more than a few weeks.
A proper home means her children have somewhere stable to grow up in. It means on a rainy night, no one’s lying awake in the middle of leaking water. It means rest can be a possibility for this family.
Their story can change for the better, if we can build them a place to call their own.
And with your help, this can be the life Kalaiyarasi and her family can live.
