Dilani’s home is covered with just some temporary sheets. When the rain comes in, the water comes with it. And when the weather turns, the gaps in the walls and the loose covering opens up to let snakes inside.
This is where Dilani and her husband are raising their one-and-a-half-year-old baby.
She became a mother at 18 years old. Her husband does odd jobs when work is available.
Dilani goes out to sell turmeric to make some extra money. And on the harder days, she asks people for help. That’s what it takes to get through the week.

There’s no toilet at home either. For that, they go to the jungle nearby.
What they want is simple. A house of their own. Somewhere safe for their baby to grow up in. without the danger of being bitter by snakes.
And with your help, we can build Dilani and her family a house where the rain stays outside and the wildlife stays in the jungle where it belongs.
